Dear FEFLOW User,
For 2012, we are
looking forward to the release of FEFLOW 6.1 in summer. With this release we
will say a final goodbye to X servers and the Motif toolkit
that have been accompanying us for the last 20 years. We are also
anticipating the 3rd International FEFLOW User Conference (FEFLOW 2012) in September, hoping to meet many of you in person
here in Berlin. We would like to remind you that the deadline for abstract
submission is January 31, 2012. Below you find the
basic conference information and a list of pre/post conference training
courses. At the end of the newsletter, we have listed upcoming training courses and the latest FEFLOW patches as usual. Don’t forget to visit our website for a video of our
special FEFLOW snowman! We wish you a Merry Christmas! In case you do
not celebrate Christmas, we send you Seasons Greetings, we wish you Happy
Holidays, and may all of you have a Happy New Year 2012! Your FEFLOW Services team

Summer School in Berlin, September 17—21, 2012 It's becoming a tradition:
The week-long summer-school program Modelling
of Mass and Energy Transport in Porous Media With Practical Applications
will again be offered in 2012. The summer school is a collaborative effort
between DHI-WASY, Freie Universität Berlin and Geoforschungszentrum Potsdam and will
be held at the Department of
Mathematics and Computer Science of the Freie Universität Berlin. At a very affordable price, the course
offers a combination of lectures on the hydrogeological and mathematical
basics of flow, mass and heat transport in the subsurface, introductory FEFLOW
exercises, and FEFLOW application in project work. More information on the
program can be found at http://emm.mi.fu-berlin.de/SOMMER/ |

Tips & Tricks – Layer subdivision into several uniformly spaced layers
Step 1: In the 3D Layer
configurator increase the Distance
to a value that is larger than the thickness of the layer that you would like
to subdivide. If you want to be on the safe side, choose a very high value.
Step 2: Increase the Number of layers/slices to the desired
number. Step 3: Choose where the new slices
are to be placed. The result is a uniformly
subdivided layer:

way of achieving something otherwise impossible in FEFLOW? Email us! |
